Although we love to make use of our premises and our bus, we often find ourselves out and about in the community getting involved in all sorts of other ways....
pshe
We love going into schools to take PSHE lessons on drugs and alcohol. We are able to
inform young people about the effects of substances, risks they might be taking in
experimenting with drugs and alcohol as well as help them to consider the potential
consequences of their choices not only for themselves but also the wider community.
detached
Sometimes, to
promote one of our events or simply to meet young people who we don't already know, we put
on our coats and head to the streets. It's a great way of meeting young people outside of
our usual programme and we have even been known to go out and enjoy a snowball fight!
DJing
We sometimes
run events, DJ workshops and courses in local schools and youth venues. It's a fun way of
getting to know people and is very popular. We find it's a huge boost to people's
confidence when they have the opportunity to perform and record their own mix at the end
of the sessions!
other areas
As well as the different activities that we do in Hertford and Ware, we also work a little
further afield. We are currently involved in doing drug education at the YMCA Youth Space
in Welwyn GC as well as doing training for youth workers in Harlow developing a similar
service.
